The Greatest Gift You Can Give Your Family | RI Family Photographer
Chances are, you take photos of your children and other loved ones all the time. Possibly, or probably, daily. We have the advantage of having cameras with us all the time. Gone are the days when the amount of photos we took was limited by the number of film exposures on the roll of film in our camera. We no longer have to wait to develop film, or for it to come back from the lab, to see how photos turned out. It is a wonderful thing.
With all those photos you have of everyone else, when was the last time you were in photos, too? When was the last time you had a family portrait session, complete with printed photos from that session hanging on your walls, or gracing your coffee table or bookshelf in the form of a beautiful album that is looked at often?
Truth bomb: kids love photos of you. They love when you’re in photos with them. Those photos mean a lot now, and will mean even more further down the road. Additionally, it gives children a sense of security and belonging to see themselves in photos of their family that are on display. Note the “on display” part. Not just photos that live on phone, or a CD or USB or a digital gallery. Photos that are printed and easy for family members and others to view and enjoy.
The holidays are approaching. Most of us are trying to pick out the perfect gifts. As a RI family photographer, I’m here to tell you that the greatest gift you can give your family is a rich legacy of memories. Part of that legacy includes heirloom portraits that give happiness now and are part of the fabric of your family’s story for generations.
You may feel it’s never the right time for family portraits. Maybe the kids are too small, or maybe you wish you’d done it when they were smaller. Maybe you want to wait until you lose a few pounds or cut your hair or a million other little things. I’m here to say it’s always the right time for portraits. If you keep finding excuses, you’ll never have them done. But when you do have them done, you’ll be so happy you did. And guess what: it’s my job as a photographer to make you look your very best in photos (and trust me when I tell you, you’re picking on yourself way too much…you’re beautiful, I think so, and so do your kids. Look at yourself through their eyes).
Now is the time to give your family the gift that will last a lifetime. It’s a great time to take advantage of the $99 portrait special, which is back through November 30. They will thank you forever.
