As a person, it's great to have friends. As a photographer, it's great to have a friend who you get to photograph on multiple occasions over the years. It's the best of two worlds: you get to see your friend and you get to see your growth as a photographer.

The lovely Dayle is one of those people for me. I first met her about four years ago when I was doing a personal project photographing dancers. Dayle was still in high school at the time and she and her best friend Alice willingly posed for me multiple times. Enthusiastic subject are great!

I soon found out that Dayle was already very driven even at her relatively young age. She had very specific goals in mind on what she wanted to do with her life, and she has been crushing it. She currently dances professionally in LA and I love following her on Facebook and Instagram. You should, too!

On a recent visit back to RI, I was lucky enough to photograph Dayle again. We made our way to a lovely Charlestown path lined by tall pine trees. As a RI family photographer, it's always nice to photograph with pine trees in the background because you can have green all year round!

Dayle came prepared (as usual) with several wardrobe selections, but she was also game for something from my own closet: a vintage early-1970's dress that used to be my aunt's, plus a guitar (that's missing a few strings...oops!) Even though she's a tad bit too young to have ever experienced the hippie years, she managed to embody the free spirit of the original hippies pretty well.

Or maybe she was more like a forest fairy? Either way, it was great to be able to put the vintage dress to use, and it fit Dayle perfectly!

Dayle also brought the dress from her senior prom, which she shared she got on Amazon (just another reason to love Amazon!!!). While it wasn't freezing cold during our shoot, it certainly wasn't sleeveless prom dress weather. Nevertheless, you'd never know it, would you? Our session fortunately did not even need a snake wrangler, which I hear is something that happens on shoots in LA. Nope, no snakes on the path!
