My Favorite Locations: Clark Farms Greenhouse • RI Family Photographer
If you're a gardener of any sort (even in your mind, like I am), Clark Farms is likely a well-known stop for you in prettying up your yard. Their Wakefield location has so much to offer right in town. Their second location, on Route 1 in Matunuck, is open spring through fall (when there's a fabulous corn maze). One of the highlights of this location is its gigantic greenhouse, full of all kinds of lovely plants and flowers.
This greenhouse is another one of my favorite shooting locations! Other than studio sessions, nearly all of my sessions as a RI family photographer are held outdoors. This location, though, is one of the exceptions.
In springtime the greenhouse bursts with all kinds of beautiful colors, even before the outdoors has caught up. It makes for a colorful, pretty, and interesting backdrop for many session types. It's also a great place for kids to discover and enjoy flowers!
Because the space is indoors, it allows for shooting even on rainy days, which can be plentiful in the spring. It's pleasantly warm inside, and there's no need to worry about staying out of spring showers. As I mentioned before, the greenhouse is huge. Enormous. I'm not sure I've ever been in a bigger greenhouse. This means that there are lots of different options for posing and backgrounds, all within the same space. For little ones who like to run or wander, there's plenty of space to do that, all within the confines of an inside space.
What has to be the best thing about having a session at the Clark Farms greenhouse, though, has to be that right after your session, you can go shopping for all the plants, trees, and shrubs that your heart desires. It's kind of a garden and landscape paradise. You might think you're only going to buy one thing, but suddenly you've got three hydrangeas and two flats of annuals in your car. Those plants sure are sneaky!
