Whenever I think of October 2017, I will think of dahlias. So many beautiful dahlias of all different colors and they seemed to just keep blooming. And so many photos of dahlias! (They even make great props...the RI children's photographer in me was so happy when my mother provided some dahlias for this session!)

The end of October was also a time of changing light. Only in the last few weeks did I realize that on sunny days, my house has beautiful light on one side of the house for nearly half the day...but only at this time of year. Very different from summer light, it's something that I've been taking advantage of.

Beyond dahlias and light (and the cat...because always the cat), the end of October showcased one heck of a storm. My photos depict the early drizzle before the storm started in earnest as well as the sunny skies and rough waves the day after. Anyone who lives in Rhode Island or even other parts of New England also remembers the in between...the driving rain, howling wind, and days without electricity. It was an adventure to put it mildly.
