Project Light: January I • Rhode Island Family Photographer
Last year I did a project 365: one photo of something every single day for the entire year. There was no guide that I followed; I just photographed whatever I liked. It was a fantastic project but I was also glad when it was over, and felt relief at not having to pick up my camera ever day.
Until the second day I didn't pick up my camera and I felt really sad that I wasn't taking photos, so I did. I've belonged to a group of amazing photographers since last year whose purpose is finding light. Light is what photography is all about. Finding it in all the places you never thought it was. Seeing its beauty. Immortalizing it. This group has inspired me to find and follow light this year. It's ok if it's not every day. It's ok if it's more than once a day. Finding light, just light, has made me so happy. SO HAPPY!!!!! (See all of those exclamation points!) Thus, this year I am doing a Project Light vs a Project 365.
January's theme is quiet light. Quiet light is everywhere once you start looking for it. January has also given me so many opportunities to use my Lensbaby, which I didn't bring out much last year. This year, though, it's one of my favorites.
Below are the photos from roughly the first half of January. Quiet light in my everyday: at home, on the way to work, around town, at lunch. Everywhere.
